The other Top 10 newcomer is Arista Nashville’s Alan Jackson, with his new album, Freight Train, debuting at #7 while racking up 73k in sales.
Capitol Nashville’s Lady Antebellum rounds out the leaderboard at #5, up 13%, giving EMI Music two of the Top 5 and some much-needed momentum at a crucial time.
J Records/RMG’s Monica (#6), Island/IDJ’s Bieber debut (#8, +55%), Interscope’s Lady Gaga The Fame album (#9, +25%) and Black Eyed Peas (#10, +30%) complete the Top 10.
Def Jam/IDJ’s Meth + Ghost + Rae, a reunion of Wu-Tang Clan members Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon, enters at #12, as does Raisin’/EMI Label Services’ Barenaked Ladies (#21), Disney’s Radio Disney Jams 12 (#26), Redneck’s Gretchen Wilson (#33) and Columbia’s Robin Williams album from his HBO special, Weapons of Self Destruction (#48).
Biggest gainer of the week is Rhino’s Alvin & the Chipmunks The Squeaquel soundtrack, which moves #30-17, +112% on the strength of the DVD release.
