alt- rockers A Day to Remember and Anberlin, Letterman/Jack Ponti signing Runner Runner and indie sensations Yeasayer top the list of newcomers cracking this week’s HITS Vibe-Rater section.

Victory Records Florida-based A Day to Remember’s third album, Homesick, has been out since February ’09, but Tony Brummel and company keep on plugging, with the focus track, “Have Faith In Me,” now #1 Most Requested at KROQ for two consecutive weeks on Stryker’s show. The video premiered on MTV.com (7/14), and is now on MTV2 and mtvU. Look for appearances at the X Games (7/27), Syracuse’s KRockathon (7/31), Winnipeg’s Rock on the Range (8/7) and Epicenter (9/26), with a Loveline scheduled for 7/28. For more info, click here.

Universal Republic alt-rockers Anberlin’s fifth studio release, the Brendan O’Brien-produced Dark is the Way. Light is the Place, is set to hit retail 9/7, but the first track, “Impossible,” is already lighting up PoMo station add boards at KROQ, Q101, KITS, X96, KRBZ, WBRU, KNDD and more. The band’s self-titled debut comes out 9/28, but the first single, “So Obvious,” is already attracting attention at Pop and Hot Adult formats, including WNCI, CKEY, WHBQ and Sirius Hits 1, among others. Secretly Canadian Brooklyn-based hipster sensations Yeasayer break through with their major label debut, Odd Blood, and its first track, “O.N.E.,” garnering strong airplay at KYSR, WRXP, WXRT, LIVE 105, KGSR, WFNX, WRLT, WLUM, WBRU, WRNR, WWCD, KPND, KNDD, WEQX and KBCO, among many more.
