Athough I always leave feeling like I was run over by a Mack truck, Coachella is the best festival.

IVANA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT

Lenny’s a No-Show, but Ivana Soldiers On
Note: Because Lenny was unwilling or unable to engage in avirtual conversation with Ivana this week, the resourceful Ivana fabricated Lenny’s half of the dialogue out of what she calls “Lenny’s greatest hits.”

IVANA: Why is this week different from all other weeks?

LENNY: Because the weather is better and it is time for golf?

IVANA: and because there are 100,000 people still recovering from Coachella, grateful that it's a short week

LENNY: i found avoiding 100 degree weather quite gratifying

IVANA: it was a blast though. You could've hung out with me and Daniel Glass! Of course his bands were among the highlights of the weekend: It was a game-changer for Two Door Cinema Club and Mumford & Sons was probably the best received band of the festival

LENNY: 2011 is the year of Glassnote, again

IVANA: Otherwise, there were many bands who left the desert feeling triumphant, like Arcade Fire, Interpol, Sleigh Bells, Cold Cave, The Kills, Foster the People, Black Keys, Crystal Castles, etc

LENNY: it was quite the event

IVANA: Athough I always leave feeling like I was run over by a Mack truck, Coachella is the best festival. Many props to Goldenvoice

LENNY: Paul Tollett has made it the must-attend event of the year

IVANA: I brought my niece for her 16th birthday. She loved every second of it

LENNY: perfectly age appropriate, my niece was also there and had the time of her life

IVANA: She told me about bands I'd never heard of--it's fascinating how kids consume music these days

LENNY: they know about bands from their lifestyle, as we did when we were young

IVANA: for a kid who knows so much about indie music, she was still starstruck at the sight of Rihanna, Katy Perry, Usher, Kesha, the Glee gang, Danny DeVito, the Hilton sisters and every other celebutard imaginable.

LENNY: that is very “indie rock” of her. she must get that from you.

IVANA: I was happiest to see Bob Mould from Husker Du (among other bands) and Paul McCartney from Wings (among other bands).

LENNY: I’ve heard of one of them.

IVANA: i believe that radio is more open to playing new bands than they've been in a while, taking a page from your playbook that a hit is a hit is a hit

LENNY: that was very wise of me
IVANA: Noah and the Whale’s “L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.” was added at WFNX this week. I love love love love love this song! and AWOLNATION is a big hit. Guzik has brought “Sail” home for Redbull with big adds this week from WRXP and X-96.

LENNY: Great promotion guy, that Joe Guzik. But can you get him to stop sending me emails every 5 minutes?

IVANA: hah. I’m also ecstatic that X-96 added The Cars “Sad Song.” I can’t wait to see them in a few weeks!

LENNY: I was a big fan of their early, funny work.

IVANA: oh shit, stop the presses. I just received word that Vince Richards has left the building at KDGE, a mere few weeks before Edgefest 21.

LENNY: whoa. Who is doing his show?

IVANA: He’s got Jane’s Addiction and Weezer.

LENNY: I liked their early, funny work as well.

IVANA: Seriously, I wonder what happened to him? I always thought he was Teflon within Clear Channel. It’s definitely the end of an era.

LENNY: Don’t all your ex’s live in Texas?

IVANA: only one.

LENNY: that’s it? How unusual for you.

IVANA: On that note, I’m going to prep my son for the remaining questions for tonight’s Seder. Say goodnight, Gracie.

LENNY: Goodnight, Gracie.
