SPOTLIGHT
Psychocharger (www.myspace.com/psychocharger): Having built a rep as N.Y.C.’s bloodiest band and the bastard sons of the King hisself, Psychocharger delivers an ultra-horrific death-march through the rotting rock & roll graveyard with a sound that’s been described as “horror rawkabilly.” The band draws its influences from rockabilly, industrial, punk, surf and gothic, melding all of the above for a sound that’s definitely not for the faint of heart. They’re working on their third full-length album, which they promise (or threaten) will be louder and heavier than the previous, two. These guys are ultra-road warriors, having toured both nationally and internationally, including the Bring Out Your Dead festival in London and the Rue Morgue magazine Festival of Fear in Toronto, also making a trip to the West Coast to play the main stage at the Ink-N-Iron fest. Give these guys a listen—we strongly suggest using earplugs.
ONE TO WATCH
Strange Condition (www.myspace.com/strangecondition): Our favorite Denver, group had been going through some changes and is now back on the scene with a new singer and some killer new tunes boasting amazing harmonies—a staple of the band. Although the new songs haven’t yet been posted, trust us, this band has the sound that every label is looking forTime to book a trip to Denver to check out their Aug. 27 show at Casselman’s. .
