SPOTLIGHT
Jetstream (www.myspace.com/jetstreamrocks; @jetstreamrocks): Alternative rockers from L.A., currently unsigned. While rehearsing for a local show, the guys were overheard by members Stone Temple Pilots. Songwriter/bassist Robert DeLeo was so intrigued and impressed by the young trio’s talent and potential that he opened his home and heart to them, even collaborating on two new JetStream songs. On top of helping the band define their emerging sound, DeLeo has offered to produce their first album—how cool is that? Over the summer, JetStream rocked the Harley biker crowd with bands like STP, Creed, Wolfmother and Guns N’ Roses at Rock and Rev in Sturgis, SD. As this is written, they’re en route to Florida for the first of five shows as the opening act for STP on their world tour. The dates are Oct. 8 @ Tampa’s Saint Pete Times Forum, Oct. 9 @ Orlando’s UCF Arena, Oct. 26 @ San Diego’s Vieja Arena, Oct. 27 @ the Santa BarbaraCounty Bowl and Nov. 1 @ San Francisco’s Warfield Theatre. ON DECK
Twenty One Pilots (www.twentyonepilots.com): Based in Columbus, OH, this band has become a fan favorite among Ohio State students and locals in general. They’ve been playing shows locally for the past year, and their audience has grown exponentially. Clubgoers may love or hate their live show, but the band’s goal is for you to remember them at the end of the night. Twenty One Pilot’s songs incorporate a variety of genres, enabling them to quickly connect with all kinds of audiences. Keep a close eye on this one, as they are getting interest from various labels, management firms and booking agencies.

Roots drummer ?uestlove performs next Sunday (10/17) at Central Social Aid & Pleasure Club, a new event facility for music, nightlife, art, culture and causes on the West Side.
