LA ROUX, SCISSOR SISTERS, BRANDON FLOWERS ON A ROLL

Three Debuts in Vibe-Raters 16 As Summer Gets Underway
As the July 4 weekend officially welcomes the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, a trio of contenders barges its way into HITSVibe-Raters section this week, all entering with some pretty strong heat behind them.

U.K. electro-dance-synth-pop group La Roux—whose lead singer Eleanor Jackson was one of the stars of this year’s Coachella—looks to turn international success into stateside breakthrough on the strength of the track “Bulletproof,” from their self-titled Cherrytree/ Interscope debut, which has been out since Sept. ‘09. The song is already Top 10 at Pop and moving quickly onto Hot Adult.and Crossover playlists. There’s a sold-out L.A. date at Club Nokia on July 15 before a pair of shows on the Lilith Tour. Check the full entry here.

Another popular U.K. act, even though they originally come from New York, Scissor Sisters are on a brand-new label in the U.S., Downtown Records, with their third album, Night Work, which is Top 10 at iTunes (#1 pop) after coming out yesterday (6/29). The first track, “Fire with Fire,” is already making inroads at major Hot Adult stations KLLC, KALC, KNHC and KSCF, with TV appearances schedujled for Letterman, Kimmel, Ellen and Fallon. As always the press is all over this one. The band’s being managed by Dave Holmes3D stable, home of Coldplay. For the full entry, click here.

The Killers' moonlighting front man Brandon Flowers will release his first Island/IDJ solo album, Flamingo, on Sept. 14, but the single, “Flamingo,” is already scoring at rock biggies such as KROQ, KYSR, KITS, KNDD, KNRK, WFNX and KBOS. The album was produced by Stuart Price, Daniel Lanois and Brendan O’Brien. He’ll be going out on a radio promo tour soon. For more info, click here.
