How high will [Springsteen] go, especially with a Sunday halftime performance on tap at this weekend’s Super Bowl?

SWIFT STILL KICKING!

Beyonce, Nickelback, Kanye, Notorious Remain Top 5, While Indie Cult Faves Animal Collective, Andrew Bird, Fleet Foxes Bow
Taylor Swift rises to the top once again this week, her eighth straight at #1, selling another 62k, bringing her total to 2.4 million.

Not bad for someone who has yet to reach her 20th birthday.

The rest of the Top 5 remains the same, with Columbia’s Beyonce at #2, Roadrunner’s Nickelback #3, Roc-a-Fella/IDJ’s Kanye West #4 and Bad Boy/Atlantic’s Notorious soundtrack #5.

Sony Legacy’s Mariah Carey Ballads album (#10) is the lone newcomer in the Top 10, preceded by Chop Shop/Atlantic’s Twilight soundtrack (#6), Geffen’s Keyshia Cole (#7), J/RMG’s Jamie Foxx (#8) and Jive/ZLG’s Britney Spears (#9).

With two soundtracks in the Top 10, as well as Oscar-nominated N.E.E.T./Interscope double-digit gainer Slumdog Millionaire (#19-16, +13%) and Decca’s Mamma Mia! (#19), that once-slumping genre appears to be picking up some momentum.

Other chart newcomers include Rhino’s latest Frank Sinatra compilation (#20) and a trio of indie cult faves in Domino’s Animal Collective (#30) and Fat Possum’s Andrew Bird (#36), running #2-3 most of the week at iTunes, along with SubPop’s Fleet Foxes (#50), coming on the heels of their SNL appearance two weeks ago.

The week’s biggest gainer is Warner Bros.Seal (#38-18, +50%), thanks to his appearance on Oprah’s inauguration special, Capitol’s Katy Perry (#43-32, +19%), Atlantic’s Kid Rock (#32-23, +12%), Capitol Nashville’s Darius Rucker (#44-40, +10%) and A&M/Octone’s resilient Hollywood Undead (#47-44, +9%).

Next week, it’s all about the Boss, as Bruce Springsteen’s Columbia album Working on a Dream streets at presstime. How high will he go, especially with a Sunday halftime performance on tap at this weekend’s Super Bowl?

After that, the next release date of any consequence is Feb. 10, with Capitol’s Lily Allen, Reprise’s Michelle Branch, Universal Republic’s India.Arie, Def Jam/IDJ’s Jadakiss and a greatest hits album from Arista/RMG’s Annie Lennox on deck.
