SONY'S NOW 31, BRAD PAISLEY, ROB THOMAS, WILCO LOOKING AT SIX FIGURE DEBUTS

Michael Jackson Will Also Be a Factor
Don't stop 'til you get enough.

That could well be the word for record buyers again this week, as those mourning Michael Jackson continue to turn to his music seeking comfort for their grief.

It remains to be seen if Jackson can keep up the torrid pace, but among the newcomers, Sony Music's Now 31 will be the top debut of this week's releases, with between 140-150k, according to one-day sales from retailers who were also moving whatever copies of Off the Wall and Thriller they still had around their stores.

Arista Nashville's Brad Paisley is up next, with his latest, American Saturday Night, looking at selling between 120-130k.

Atlantic's Matchbox Twenty leader Rob Thomas' second solo album, Cradlesong, appears headed for the 100-110k range.

The week's real pleasant surprise is Wilco's newest, the aptly titled Wilco (The Album), on Nonesuch, which is now slated for a total between 90-100k, which would be their most impressive debut to date.

Roadrunner's Massachusetts metalcore band Killswitch Engage return with a self-titled effort, their first since 2006's As Daylight Dies, which could do as much as 50-55k

Rising Def Jam/IDJ R&B star Jeremih sees his self-titlede debut with 45-50k, thanks to the strength of the multi-format smash, "Birthday Sex."

Atlantic Brooklyn rapper Maino's debut, If Tomorrow Comes..., will bow with between 18-23k, while Def Jam/IDJ Florida hip-hop newcomer Ace Hood's Ruthless appears headed for the same sales territory.

The market was down 8% vs. last week, down 19% vs. same week last year and still down 15% year to date. You may now return to staking your claim to Michael Jackson's will.
