Universal Republic’s red-hot Owl City takes flight on the wings of “Fireflies,” up 23%, from #39-36.

Divas Streisand and Carey Battle, Rockers Benjamin and Alice Soar into Top 5
There’s a rush of fresh blood to the head of the charts.

Eight albums debut in the Top 10 this week, including all of the Top 5, headed by Fueled by Ramen/Atlantic’s Paramore, whose third album, Brand New Eyes, is the charm for the Tennessee punk-rockers, bowing at #1 with 185k in sales.

Columbia’s Barbra Streisand says people who bought her new album Love Is the Answer are the luckiest people in the world, meaning, with 176k in sales, she beat out fellow diva Mariah Carey for #2, just ahead of the Island/IDJ star’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel at #3, with 173k.

Hollywood’s Breaking Benjamin crash the leader board at #4 with an impressive 136k, edging Virgin/EMI comebacking grunge rockers Alice in ChainsBlack Gives Way to Blue, at #5 with 128k.

Roc Nation/Atlantic’s Jay-Z is the first holdover at #6, followed by three more debuts in Madonna’s WB greatest hits, Celebration (#7), Columbia Nashville country tout Miranda Lambert (#8) and Hollywood’s latest teen sensation Selena Gomez & the Scene (#9), the latter giving Bob Cavallo’s Disney Music Group a pair in the Top 10. Rounding out the list is last week’s chart-topper, Monkeywrench’s Pearl Jam with Backspacer.

Interscope’s A.F.I. leads the list of other Top 50 newcomers, along with Loud & Proud/Roadrunner’s Lynyrd Skynyrd (#16), Williams Street’s Adult Swim cartoon band Dethklok (#17), Columbia’s Rick Rubin-produced roots rockers Avett Brothers (#21), Def Jam/IDJ’s Ghostface Killah (#30), Verity/JLG’s Fred Hammond (#31), Rhino’s Foreigner album Can’t Slow Down (#33), Interscope’s Where the Wild Things Are soundtrack featuring Yeah Yeah YeahsKaren O (#41) and E1 Entertainment’s veteran metal group Hatebreed (#47).
