DOUBLE COLDPLAY
The Capitol Music Group Brit-rockers get another week at #1, as Viva La Vida once more tops the HITS Album sales chart with an impressive 251k total.
The band begins its U.S. tour on July 14 at the L.A. Forum.
Last chart’s runner-up, Cash Money/Universal Motown tireless rap-reneur Lil Wayne, has another strong week to finish #2 with 220k, followed by Disney’s Camp Rock soundtrack, featuring the Jonas Brothers, at #3 with 163k.
Eleven Seven Music/Motley Records’ Motley Crue leads the group of newcomers, with an impressive #4 entry just shy of 100k, ahead of the week’s other Top 10 debut, Columbia’s Oscar-winning hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia, at #5, with Last 2 Walk.
Capitol’s Now 28 leads those Top 10 returnees at #6, trailed by Reprise’s Disturbed (#7), LaFace/ZLG’s Usher (#8), Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic’s Plies (#9) and Def Jam/IDJ’s Rihanna (#10).
Atlantic’s Shinedown heads the week’s other Top 50 bows at #11, along with XL/Beggars Banquet’s Icelandic art-rockers Sigur Ros (#16), Fueled by Ramen emo band Cute is What We Aim For (#21), Blue Note’s Amos Lee (#22), Verity’s Marvin Sapp (#26), Brushfire/Universal Republic’s G. Love & Special Sauce (#41) and Columbia’s Metro Station (#47).
Atlantic’s Kid Rock is the top double-digit gainer of the week, moving #15-12, +25%, with Hollywood’s Jonas Brothers (#35-24, +23%) and Big Machine’s Taylor Swift (#17-14, +16) also surging upward.
Mercury/IDJ’s Duffy (#17, +7%) and J Records/RMG’s Leona Lewis (#15, +6%) are also showing one-week sales jumps.
This week, Interscope’s G-Unit and Columbia’s John Mayer, with his live album, go to retail, and both will chart next Tuesday.
