Beyonce leads all double-digit gainers with a 14% rise, followed by Atlantic’s Jason Mraz (#22-18, +14%), who benefited from a Saturday Night Live appearance, and Columbia’s John Legend (#43-41, +11%), with a new single.

BOSS DREAM COMES TRUE

New Columbia Album Hits #1, Grammy Nominees, Franz Ferdinand Bow in Top 10
Obama Inaugural Show + Super Bowl Halftime Performance = #1 album.

That’s the formula Bruce Springsteen uses this week to catapult his new Columbia album, Working on a Dream, to #1 on the HITS Top 50 chart, with 212k in sales.

That was enough to nudge aside previous topper, Big Machine’s Taylor Swift, who proves eight is enough after that many consecutive weeks ruling the roost, landing at #2.

Columbia diva Beyonce continues to put a ring on cash registers with a #3 finish, followed by Roadrunner Canadian rockers Nickelback (#4) and J Records/RMG’s Jamie Foxx (#5), rounding out the Top 5.

Rhino’s annual Grammy Nominees 2009 is the other Top 10 newcomer at #6, along with Epic Glasgow PoMo mainstays Franz Ferdinand’s Tonight at #10.

Roc-a-Fella’s Kanye West (#7), Geffen’s Keyshia Cole (#8) and Jive/JLG’s Britney Spears (#9) complete the leader board.

Other newcomers include Columbia’s WWE: The Music Vol. 9 (#11), Sony Music Nashville guitar-slinger Pat Green (#17), Island/IDJ’s Hoobastank (#21), Verity/JLG’s Wow Gospel 2009 (#29) and Walt Disney RecordsRadio Disney Jams, Vol. 11 (#43).

Beyonce leads all double-digit gainers with a 14% rise, followed by Atlantic’s Jason Mraz (#22-18, +14%), who benefited from a Saturday Night Live appearance, and Columbia’s John Legend (#43-41, +11%), with a new single.

Hitting stores and cyberspace this week is Epic’s The Fray, who follow their double-platinum debut with a self-titled sophomore effort already selling briskly at iTunes. Also on tap: Capitol’s Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Capitol Nashville’s Dierks Bentley, Victory’s A Day to Remember and Razor & Tie’s ongoing cottage industry Kidz Bop 15.
