Next week, it’s an old-fashioned hip-hop battle between the coasts as Compton rapper The Game’s Geffen album Doctor’s Advocate, in which he offers the olive branch to both Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, goes up against Steve Rifkind’s SRC find, Akon, the Senegal-born, New Jersey-raised star whose Universal Motown album Konvicted features two huge crossover smashes.

URBAN DEVELOPING QUICKLY, BUT NOW IS FOREVER

Capitol Nashville Country Star Earns Even Faith Hills’s Praise as New Album Will Vie With Now 23 for Next Week’s #1
The returns are in… and in this election, Keith Urban looks like he’s sewn up most of the precincts.

The Capitol Nashville star may be in rehab, but sales for his new album, Love, Pain & the whole crazy thing, are worth cracking open the bubbly with his wife Nicole. Reports from those retailers around the country not in rehab have him hitting close to 350k.

That’ll put him hat-and-neck with Sony Music Group’s Now 23, which is a lock for around 350k, thanks to including recent hits like Fergie’s “London Bridge,” Nelly Furtado/Timbaland’s “Promiscuous,” Pussycat Dolls/Snoop Dogg’s “Buttons,” Justin Timberlake/Timbaland’s “SexyBack,” Beyonce/Jay-Z’s “Déjà vu,” Rihanna’s “Unfaithful,” Hinder’s “Lips of an Angel” and OK Go’s “Here It Goes Again”

Mercury Nashville country duo Sugarland is another winner for Luke Lewis, with Enjoy the Ride enjoying the ride with a total of 230-250k, putting them in a horse race with 143/Reprise crooner Josh Groban’s Awake, which isn’t all that easy to do listening to him. Koch rapper Jim Jones is up next with between 80-85k, Decca/Universal ClassicsAndrea Bocelli live album at 70k, mas o menos, followed by RCA’s Dave Matthews Band album, The Best of What’s Around, at 60k, a two-disc set with the group's greatest studio hits on one CD, and the second including live tracks voted on by fans. RCA’s Foo Fighters return with a live acoustic album, Skin and Bones, that looks to do between 40-50k.

Next week, it’s an old-fashioned hip-hop battle between the coasts as Compton rapper The Game’s Geffen album Doctor’s Advocate, in which he offers the olive branch to both Dr. Dre and 50 Cent, goes up against Steve Rifkind find Akon, the Senegal-born, New Jersey-raised star whose SRC/Universal Motown album Konvicted features two huge crossover smashes with Eminem (“Smack That”) and Snoop Dogg (“I Wanna Love You”). Both albums could do between 300-350k in first-week sales when they hit the street next Tuesday (Nov. 14). And then, on Nov. 21, right before Turkey Day, it’s Super Tuesday with Jay-Z, The Beatles, Tupac, Snoop and U2 all landing on retail shelves.

The market was up almost 6.5% from last week, down a little over 2% vs. the same week last year and now down a little under 5% year-to-date.
