CHICAGO SALIBY’S KINDA TOWN

New Victory Records SVP Sales & Marketing Returns to Hometown, Indie-Rock Roots
Guess who blew back into the Windy City?

Veteran sales and marketing exec Jim Saliby, who comes from Chicago and the world of indie-rock, returned to both on being named Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing for hometown Victory Records by label ruler Tony Brummel.

“This is a return to my roots in more ways than one,” says Saliby. “I'm going back to my hometown as well as my beginnings in indie punk-rock. It’s where I came from and what I still listen to.”

Saliby’s industry career began at Concrete Marketing, then he oversaw the indie label Energy Records before segueing to VP Marketing and Sales at Roadrunner. He then moved over to the Mercury Records Group, which at the time included Def Jam, Motown and Capricorn, among others, working with then-label head Danny Goldberg, promo domo David Leach and sales/mktg. vet Jeff Brody. For the past seven years, Saliby was VP Sales for RLG/BNA, now Sony BMG Nashville, under Joe Galante and Butch Waugh.

“I've been talking to Tony about doing this for more than a year, and the time is finally right. I am so blessed and grateful for the support of my industry colleagues which led to me taking this new job,” says Saliby. “But if Mark Pearson calls, will you tell him I’m out to lunch?
