This whole thing with
Kobe Bryant and the
Lakers has been more entertaining than the
NBA Conference Finals. As a diehard
Clippers fan, it doesn’t get much better than this—unless, of course,
Kobe does actually get traded. I’m hoping that this latest soap opera rips the Lakers apart, and that
L.A. becomes a Clippers town. One can only dream, right?

JE-C’S ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Judge Jackson: This L.A. band has been around and touring the States for some time now. You might have heard their music on
Fox Sports Network promos or prime-time TV shows like
NBC’s
My Name Is Earl. They also do the theme song for the
NASCAR race program
Victory Lane on the
Speed Channel. In recent months, they’ve supported such acts as
Buckcherry,
Gov’t Mule,
Army of Anyone,
Cheap Trick and, this weekend, they’ll add
Uncle Kracker to that list, performing at
Big Bear Choppers Ride the Mountain 2007 in
Big Bear Lake, CA. Judge Jackson’s style of straight-ahead rock & roll has made them a staple on the bike rally and festival circuit, regularly playing in front of thousands. This band’s new self-titled indie release has sold north of a 1,000 copies in its first month via live shows,
www.judgejacksonband.net,
www.myspace.com/judgejackson and other online outlets.
Please send me your comments on Judge Jackson, or, if you’re in a band or you know of a cool act and want to turn us on to it, send me your info to
[email protected].
JE-C’S NEW MOVIE RUNDOWN
Knocked Up
Starring: Katherine Heigl, Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Jay Baruchel
Synopsis: Allison Scott is on the fast track for a promising career as an entertainment journalist. Her big plans get a little messed up, though, after a one-night stand with a total slacker gets her pregnant. Although she has the determination to be a successful working single mom, Allison tries to involve her baby's daddy in her life, but he may turn out to be a little too immature to handle fatherhood.
Thoughts: I’m hearing that
Knocked Up is one of the funniest movies of the year and may even become this year’s
40 Year-Old Virgin.
JE-C’S GADGET OF THE WEEK
The BlackBerry Curve: This baby, which is now being offered by
AT&T,
is sweet.
RIM is using it to lure its customers away from the
iPhone,
which will be coming out this month. I’m hoping to get my hands on a Curve and may already have one by the time you guys read this. If you’re a BlackBerry junkie like me and love to keep up with technology, this may be the device for you. The word on the street is that it’s almost as small as the
Pearl, but with a full keyboard. Check out the specs here:
