Band Will Reunite for Tour Promoted by Live Nation, Sponsored by Best Buy
After their much-ballyhooed Grammy appearance last night, where they opened the show by performin “Roxanne” together, The Police announced a major U.S. and world tour will get underway May 28 in Vancouver during a live set at L.A.’s Whisky-a-Go-Go.

Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland launched the mini-set with “Message in a Bottle,” then followed with the more obscure “Voices Inside my Head” seguing into “When the World Is Running Down (You Make the Best of What’s Still Around)." They finished with a raucous version of “Can’t Stand Losing You.”

The band’s tour, promoted by Live Nation with sponsorship by retailer Best Buy, will play arenas and some stadiums, including an appearance at Boston’s Fenway Park on July 28. Other confvirmed dates include the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee on June 16, two Madison Square Garden performances in N.Y. on Aug. 1 and 3 and dates in Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas, New Orleans, St. Louis, Toronto and Montreal. .

Live Nation Chairman/Global Music Arthur Fogel also announced that the tour will continue this fall with dates in the U.K. and Europe, including appearances in Holland, Germany, Italy and France with additional countries to be announced. Additional dates in Mexico, South America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand are anticipated.

A portion of the proceeds from this tour will be donated to WATERAID, an international NGO founded in 1981 and dedicated to reducing poverty by improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education.
