The only other big news is Island/IDJ’s emo poster kids Fall Out Boy, with a special limited edition that places them at #9, notching a nifty 104% increase.

HIGH SCHOOL ON A CHART HIGH!!

Walt Disney Soundtrack Reigns Over James Blunt, E-40 Bows, Fall Out Boy Revived
School may be out for Spring Break, but class is in session for Walt Disney RecordsHigh School Musical, which returns to the #1 spot on the HITS’ Top 50 Albums chart, with a robust 134k in sales.

Custard/Atlantic’s James Blunt continues to smoke ‘em at #2, with 125k, and that’s it for the six-figure sales totals, with veteran Warner Bros. rapper E-40 the week’s top debut at #3, tallying more than 95k.

The only other big news is Island/IDJ’s emo poster kids Fall Out Boy, with a special limited edition that places them at #9, notching a nifty 104% increase.

The rest of the Top 10 is pretty static, with Def Jam/IDJ’s Ne-Yo (#4), last week’s chart-topper, Atlantic’s Juvenile (#5), Arista/RMG crossover country Idol Carrie Underwood (#6), Or Music/Epic’s Hebrew reggae star Matisyahu (#7), Island/IDJ’s Johnny Cash compilation (#8) and Brushfire/Universal’s still-potent Jack Johnson Curious George soundtrack (#10), which continues to sell despite little radio airplay and the movie no longer in wide release.

Chart debuts are registered by Lyric Street/Hollywood country-pop act SHEDaisy (#24), Reprise’s Donald Fagen (#27), Legacy’s Johnny Cash 16 Biggest Hits (#33) and Geffen’s soundtrack to Dave Chappelle’s Block Party (#44). Virgin/EMI’s Gorillaz returns to the charts at #46.

Biggest one-week gains, aside from Fall Out Boy, are logged by FOB discoveries, Fueled by Ramen’s Panic! at the Disco (#43-31, +34%), DreamWorksAll-American Rejects (#41-35, +13%) and Universal’s Chamillionaire (#46-40, +22%). Decca/Universal ClassicsAndrea Bocelli (#16-12, +4%), Arista/RMG’s Barry Manilow (#25-20, +4%), A&M/Interscope’s Pussycat Dolls (#27-22, +7%) and Milking Bull/EMI’s The Little Willies (#50, +2%), also showed incremental gains.

Hitting the streets for next week’s chart are Prince’s Universal Republic debut 3121, which is expected to bow at #1, along with Columbia’s Teddy Geiger, Victory’s Atreyu and Reprise’s My Chemical Romance special edition. Look for Manilow’s The Great Love Songs of the Fifties to be regenerated with some of its songs being performed by contestants on this week’s American Idol.
