"The magic, the music, the mystique and the ethos of this band, the poetry of Jim Morrison, and the iconic imagery we all grew up with, continues to fascinate and capture the attention of young kids all over again."

THE DOORS MARK 40-YEAR ANNY

Legendary Band Continues Activity with New Releases, U.K. Promo Tour
Jim Morrison may still be dead, but his band keeps getting hotter.

The celebration of The Doors’ 40th anniversary is in full swing. Fresh off receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award Grammy from NARAS last week, their Best of the Doors was just certified Diamond (10x Platinum) today, selling more than 500k copies in the last six months.

On Feb. 28, they will receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and finally, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will spotlight the band with a massive exhibit opening in May entitled, "Break On Through—The Lasting Legacy of the Doors."

All six studio albums are being reissued by Rhino on March 27, including brand-new 40th anniversary mixes supervised by the band along with original engineer/co-producer Bruce Botnick. Rhino International will also release a brand-new Best of the Doors package in March.

To further mark their 40th anniversary, the band will head to the U.K. in March to recreate their Sunset Strip Doors event held last November in L.A., this time in London on March 19, in Camden Yard with Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger onstage alongside select U.K. recording artists in a special live performance/jam, a reading of Jim Morrison's poetry with John Densmore and special guests, and special screenings of rare live Doors footage.

Said the band's manager Jeff Jampol: "It's amazing to watch all these new fans embrace The Doors, as each new generation have been doing for 40 years now. The magic, the music, the mystique and the ethos of this band, the poetry of Jim Morrison, and the iconic imagery we all grew up with, continues to fascinate and capture the attention of young kids all over again.

"The last thing we want to do is dilute, alter, obfuscate or change the heart and soul of what The Doors truly mean, and stand for...not only for their sake, but for the hundreds of millions of fans they have built over four decades. Selling out The Doors is NOT an option, ever, but exposing them to a whole new generation, and letting new fans make their OWN minds up, definitely IS."
