Disney Records’ soundtrack to the sure-to-be Pixar smash Cars appears to be in the 60-70k range, with the movie opening this Friday. The soundtrack features Sheryl Crow, Rascal Flats, Brad Paisley, James Taylor, John Mayer, Chuck Berry and Hank Williams, among others.
Koch’s D.J. Khaled seems to be the other chart newcomer, with a first-week total that could approach 50k.
Hitting retail next Tuesday are Busta Rhymes’ Aftermath/Interscope bow, which could go as high as 200-250k, and Jive/ZLG’s Three Days Grace, with a shot at topping 100k. Century Media’s flagship rockers Shadows Fall appears headed over 50k, as the band prepares to hit the road for an extensive tour this summer.
Overall, the market was down 7% vs. last week, down 10% vs. same week last year and is now off 3% year-to-date.
