ZOMBA’S THE BOMBA FOR FLECKENSTEIN

Sony BMG Unit Ups VP Global Marketing to Sr. VP International
The Zomba Label Group has named John “don’t call me Bela” Fleckenstein to the position of Senior Vice President, International, it was announced today by Group Sr. VP Sales & Marketing/GM Tom Carrabba.

In his new role, Fleckenstein will oversee all international marketing efforts for the Zomba Group and head up its International Department, all while buffing Group head Barry Weiss’s loafers to a lustrous shine.

Prior to his new appointment, Fleckenstein served as VP Global Marketing, where he worked closely with international repertoire owners. He started his Sony BMG career at the international department of Arista in 1998, where he was involved with projects including Whitney Houston’s My Love Is Your Love, TLC’s Fanmail and Santana’s Supernatural. In 2001, he became Sr. Director, Marketing and Promotion, of BMG’s Asia Pacific regional office, based in Sydney, Australia, where he oversaw campaigns on behalf of artists including Avril Lavigne, Christina Aguilera, Foo Fighters and Pink, as well as strategic marketing releases such as the Elvis #1s project.

Said Carrabba of Fleckenstein’s appointment, "John is a great addition to our already wonderful international staff, which will help ensure that our artists will receive the necessary focus to succeed in today's global music business."

Added Fleckenstein, "The artistry and talent of the Zomba Label Group roster is unparalleled in the global market. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Tom and to lead Zomba's strong international department in developing our artists' overseas careers. And no, I don't know any of the Flecktones personally."
