ONE-DAY SALES: HERE COME OMARION, TORI AMOS

B2K Vet’s Solo Debut Could Fight for #1 with Ray, Green Day
Following a week that saw dramatic sales increases for Grammy winners including Ray Charles and Green Day, Usher, Alicia Keys and more, two new Epic releases are the big story this week.

B2K member Omarion came with the simply titled O (SO/Epic) yesterday, and according to early reports from national accounts, his solo debut is on track to sell around 150k for the week. That puts him in possible contention for #1 on next week’s chart, depending on how sustainable the post-Grammy lift proves for Ray and Green Day.

According to our white-coated retail lab technicians, an Omarion win would require only that Ray and Green Day cool off by around 30% over the course of this week. That proposition doesn’t seem out of the question to our analysts, but then they do huff a lot of ether.

Be that as it may, Omarion should be in the hunt for a Top Five debut at the least.

Interestingly, the Sony BMG Sales Enterprise reports that a substantial number of the Omarion albums sold so far have been in the new DualDisc format, which combines CD audio and DVD video on a single disc.

Meanwhile, another Epic release in the form of Tori Amos’s The Beekeeper, hit the street yesterday, and early reports have it tracking at about 70k for the week, making it a Top 10 contender.

Also streeting yesterday was Kidz Bop 7 (Razor & Tie), the latest in the popular compilation series of current hits as sung by children. The latest installment is expected to move 50k or better for the week.
