GEORGE LEVENDIS IS SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT, SONY BMG GLOBAL MARKETING GROUP

Veteran International Exec’s New Gig to Require Liaising, Not Lazing
Thirteen-year BMG veteran George Levendis has been named Senior Vice President, Sony BMG Global Marketing Group, is was announced yesterday by Executive VP/Chief Marketing Officer Tim Prescott, to whom he will report.

Based in New York, Levendis will be responsible for “liaising” between SBMG’s U.S. “repertoire centers” and the company’s international operations around the world, which seems to be a fancy way of saying he’ll coordinate worldwide marketing campaigns for both major SBMG major releases and developing artists.

“George brings to Sony BMG a keen understanding of the global music marketplace and impressive experience gained from working in the U.S., U.K., Europe and Australia,” said Prescott of the appointment. “He is uniquely qualified to help me lead our Global Marketing Group, and I look forward to working closely with him.”

Since 2002, Levendis has been Managing Director/CEO of Heaven Music/Antenna Entertainment, a Greek independent label. Prior to that, he capped his 13 years at BMG by serving as Vice President, International for Arista from 1999 to 2001.
