"Kenny has great relationships and he will put those and his creative mind to work on behalf of everyone EMM serves."
——Phil Quartararo, EMI Music N.A. EVP on hiring of Kenny Di Dia

EMI MUSIC MARKETING
TAPS THREE FOR VP

Industry Vet Di Dia Tops Marketing, Michels Notches Soundtracks and Agner’s Named to Catalog Post
At least one label’s hiring instead of firing.

EMI Music N.A. Executive Vice President Phil Quartararo has tapped three veteran industry execs for Vice President slots at EMI Music Marketing (EMM). "Oh My God, They Killed" Kenny Di Dia has been named Vice President of Marketing, Julia Michels Vice President Soundtracks and Herb "Look Back in" Agner Vice President EMI Music Catalog Marketing.

In his new post, longtime Warner Bros. and Maverick Records exec Di Dia will work closely with EMI’s North American labels and the EMM sales organization to support new releases and developing artists through key promotional tie-ins with traditional and non-traditional retail, as well as sports and lifestyle affiliations. In other words, he’ll be wearing a sandwich board touting the Fountains of Wayne at a mall near you. He is, of course, the brother of Capitol Records exec Andy Slater.

"Kenny has great relationships and he will put those and his creative mind to work on behalf of everyone EMM serves," said Phil Q. "That includes our retail and marketing partners, EMI’s labels, and ultimately, the consumers. Hey, we know they’re out there somewhere."

Added Di Dia: "EMM has been set up as an organization that’s built to develop opportunities to link music with fans, whether it be with sports leagues or other brands who see the power and potential of music for getting closer to the consumer. I won’t rest until every Big Mac is served with ketchup, fries and a Joss Stone download."

Michels comes to EMM from 20th Century Fox Music, where she oversaw the music for features produced by the film studio. In this new role, she’ll be based in L.A. and report to Sr. VP Strategic Marketing/Licensing Cynthia Sexton and compete for a table at the Ivy that’s not next to the kitchen. Michels was previously Director of Soundtracks for Capitol Records, where she created such albums as Hope Floats, Good Will Hunting, There’s Something About Mary and Never Been Kissed.

"We are delighted to have Julia back in the EMI family," said Sexton. "She’s the only one who can get Steven Spielberg on the phone."

Agner was most recently Senior Director of Marketing for EMI Music Catalog Marketing. Since joining EMI in 1998 as Project Manager, Agner has developed CD, DVD and DVD-Audio releases from the Beach Boys, David Bowie, The Band and the James Bond franchise. He’ll report to Sr. VP Sales & Catalog Marketing Ronn Werre "Did Our Love Go?"

"I’m thrilled to work with Ronn and the entire EMI team to help fans re-connect with, or discover for the first time, some of the biggest and best recording artists of all time," said Agner. "Just wait until you hear my Taste of Honey box set."
