IDJ TAPS TWO FOR PROMOTION

Easterlin, Olesen Given VP Stripes

"Wanna Be Like" Mike Easterlin and "Wreckless" Erik Olesen have been named Vice Presidents of Promotion for the Island Def Jam Music Group by Sr. VP Promotion Ken "Two" Lane "Blacktop," to whom both will report. The N.Y.-based execs will oversee the day-to-day operations of the department with Lane.

Most recently VP Pop Promotion, Easterlin will spearhead the Top 40 and Adult Formats, while former VP National Top 40 Promotion vet Olesen will coordinate radio promotion efforts under Lane.

Commented Easterlin, who spent six years at Virgin as National Director of Pop Promotion before joining IDJ: "I feel blessed to work with such great artists and the hardest-working and most talented staff in the business. And I look forward to attending the Passover seder at Lyor Cohen’s house."

Said Lane about Easterlin’s promotion: "Mike’s relationships at radio, his leadership skills and his ability to challenge the way we do business make him a key player in the success of IDJ. And he doesn’t make fun of the way I dress."

Said Olesen, who began at Elektra, rising to Sr. Director of Pop Promotion: "There is no one in the business I would rather work for than Ken Lane, Lyor Cohen, Kevin Liles and Julie Greenwald. Our artists and marketing approach make this a great place to be, especially since my office is in Mariah Carey’s walk-in wardrobe closet."

Added Lane: "Erik’s sharp business sense, coupled with his ability to develop new ways to serve our artists at a variety of radio formats, has enabled our department to grow in ways I could not have imagined, but then again, I’ve never had much of an imagination."
