ONE-DAY SALES: JONES KEEPS UP

Looks Like a Fourth Week at #1 Ahead for
Blue Note Star
Following a third week at the top of the album chart signifying another 286k units sold, Norah Jones appears headed for a fourth week at #1 as her cumulative sales approach 2 million.

Indeed, according to early reports from national accounts, there has yet to emerge another album to challenge Jones’ reign. Feels Like Home (Blue Note) is expected to sell in the neighborhood of 200k for the current week.

A re-release of Jessica Simpson’s In This Skin (Columbia), featuring a bonus DVD with footage of the singer and hubby Nick Lachey taken from The Newlyweds, meanwhile, should significantly build upon last week’s sales of the album alone, which amounted to 52k. According to retailer projections, the new package could sell 125k or better for the week, meaning she could conceivably jump as high as #2 on next week’s chart.

Also hitting the streets Tuesday was Cee-Lo’s Cee-Lo Green Is the Soul Machine (Arista), which will be the week’s biggest debut. Early reports indicate the album will move 50-60k for the week, which puts it solidly in the Top 20.
