Mexican Music Dominates as Natalie Fourcade Takes Home Three Honors

Mexican alternative rock band Molotov was the big winner at the second annual MTV Video Music Awards Latino America, presented last night at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach.

The Universal act nabbed best video of the year for "Frijolero," and also took home trophies for best act (Mexico), best group/duo and best alternative act.

Natalia LaFourcade won three honors: best solo artist, pop artist and new artist (Mexico).

Colombian Juanes won artist of the year and best rock artist. Avril Lavigne was named best international pop act; Coldplay won best international rock artist.

The awards, which aired live on MTV Latin America and MTV2, will be broadcast Nov. 1 on MTV in the U.S. The show will also be available on MTV's 44 channels worldwide throughout November.

Winners were determined by fan votes cast through the Internet and wireless services.
