Network Expands Music & Talent Programming Executive’s Duties

MTV ain’t just whistling Dix—they’re expanding her duties. In an expected move, longtime talent exec Michele Megan "Whoopie" Dix has been upped to Senior Vice President Music & Talent Programming for MTV and MTV2 by Executive VP Music & Talent Programming Tom Calderone "Wasn’t Built in a Day," to whom she’ll report.

Commented Calderone: "Michele is an amazingly creative person who has shown us again and again that she can develop and produce high-quality programming for our audiences on MTV and MTV2. We will rely on her great instincts and talents as we continue to evolve and push creative boundaries. In fact, I can’t wait to see her latest, a combination of Jackass, Fear Factor and Blind Date called Who Wants to Hit Himself Over the Head with a Ballpeen Hammer While Dating a Supermodel That Isn’t Afraid to Gargle Live Slugs?"

Dix and partner Jesse Ignjatovic have developed such shows and specials as mtvICON, mtvJAMMED, 25 Lame, mtvTREATMENT, Snoop Dogg’s Doggy Fizzle Televizzle and MTV’s upcoming Real World Baghdad. She will continue to develop new series and specials, while remaining in her role as Coordinating Producer for the MTV Video Music Awards. Dix will also stay focused on the development of MTV2’s weekend specials, series and events, like last year’s Courtney Love-hosted 24 Hours of Love and the upcoming Insane Clown Posse program, Interior Design for Juggalos.

Dix joined MTV in 1995 as Director of Music Talent, then was upped to VP Music and Talent Programming in 1996, when she was put in charge of all music and celebrity talent, including Johnny Knoxville’s supply of Vicodin and Ben Gay. Prior to that, she was Senior Music Producer for entertainment news program Extra and a talent executive for The Dennis Miller Show.
