FLAX MAXED AT EMI MUSIC

Flax was previously Executive Vice President of the company and, prior to that, the legendary fourth member of the Ivy 3.
In making the announcement, Bandier pointed to Flax’s professionalism and enthusiasm as key elements in his new post: "This is a well-earned promotion for someone who has done a great job for the past 10 years as Executive Vice President. He will be a great help to me in running the U.S. company—and smoking my Cohibas."
Flax has been with the company since 1992. Prior to joining EMI, he was a senior partner at the law firm of Grubman, Indursky, Schindler, Goldstein & Flax, where he first learned the art of inflated billing practices.
Commenting on his promotion, Flax, who will continue to report to Bandier, said: "There is a challenging future ahead for all of us at EMI Music Publishing and music publishing as a whole. I am confident that EMI will continue to lead the industry in setting the standards. And if any of those Girl Scouts insist on singing our catalog around the campfire without paying, we’ll make sure we get our share of their cookies."
While still in college, Flax pursued his passion as a songwriter, artist and record producer before discovering he could make a lot more money exploiting the creative side. After joining the songwriting staff of MRC/Chappell, Flax wrote such chart songs as Bullet’s "White Lies, Blue Eyes," Peanut Gallery’s "Do You Know What Time It Is" and Barbara Mason’s Top 10 R&B hit, "Bed and Board." He also penned the lyrics for the summer-camp classic, "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall."
Flax’s current musical tastes range from the Beatles and Bruce Springsteen to much of today’s rock and hip-hop. He has been known to sing along to Slipknot in the shower. An avid sports fan, he lives in Manhattan with his wife, two children and Yankees star Roger Clemens.
