EMI’S GLOBAL TEAM

Munns, Harlow, Lauriot Prevost Lead Music Group’s New Marketing Team

EMI Recorded Music has established a new global marketing structure.

The move is designed to capitalize on the international potential of key company key releases, maximize its speed and efficiency in breaking new artists worldwide and fully develop its catalog marketing activities, a corporate release said.

The new structure, which is under the direct responsibility of Vice Chairman David Munns, is designed to help each repertoire owner and operating company identify, nurture and develop the next generation of acts, whichever part of the world they come from.

The global marketing unit will be based out of London, where EMI is headquartered, and led by two senior executives, one responsible for artists signed to Capitol around the world and one covering the Virgin roster.

Tony Harlow, Senior VP, EMI Recorded Music, will be responsible for the marketing of Capitol Records’ repertoire around the world. Harlow was previously managing director of EMI Recorded Music Australia.

Matthieu Lauriot Prevost, Senior VP, EMI Recorded Music, will be responsible for the marketing of Virgin Records’ repertoire around the world. Lauriot Prevost joins EMI from Island Def Jam in New York where he was Senior VP, International.

Both will report directly to Munns. "Tony and Matthieu are both experienced international executives and carry great knowledge of the world markets with them," Munns said. "We firmly believe that the world is one market and should be viewed as such whether we are marketing a superstar release or developing new artists."

The central marketing division will be supported by EMI’s regional marketing teams in Continental Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. Furthermore, each main repertoire owner—EMI’s U.S. labels, EMI Recorded Music UK and Toshiba-EMI in Japan—has its own international department.

In addition, EMI has announced its regional marketing team. In Continental Europe, Chairman Emmanuel de Buretel recently appointed the following executives to coordinate marketing in the region: Monica Marin, VP, Capitol marketing; Steve Lee, director, Virgin marketing; Alex Kasparov, VP, international marketing, Eastern Europe; and Vincent Clery-Melin, director, Labels marketing.

In Latin America, Jesus Lara who was recently appointed VP of A&R and marketing, reporting to regional President Rafael Gil. In Asia Pacific, Joanne Bailey who continues as VP, international marketing, reporting to regional President Matthew Allison.
