KIEL TO NBC!!!

Communications Executive Leaves Music Biz
for a Run at TV

Sony Music Entertainment Communications Chief Patricia Kiel "My Landlord" has been named Executive Vice President, NBC Corporate Communications and Media Relations.

Kiel, who will assume her new role in mid-September, will report to Bob Wright, Vice Chairman of GE and Chairman & CEO of NBC. She joins NBC from Sony, where she served for the past seven years as Senior VP of Communications.

Kiel is expected to be replaced at Sony by former BMG Corportate Communications whiz Keith Estabrook "Brothers," who will join SME in early September.

Kiel will be responsible for NBC’s overall corporate communications strategy. She will lead the efforts of the company’s media relations departments, including News, Entertainment, Sports, CNBC, MSNBC and Telemundo. In addition, Kiel will oversee NBC’s internal communications, philanthropic activities, and public affairs initiatives, including the award-winning PSA campaign, "The More You Know."

"Patricia has a wealth of experience and an outstanding record of achievement as a communications strategist," said Wright. "She will play a valuable role at NBC, as we continue to drive our growth as a leading global media company. Patricia joins a talented communications team, and we look forward to her leadership and continued success."

Joining Sony Music Entertainment in 1995, Kiel was responsible for media relations, internal and external communications, corporate giving and special events. While there, she successfully developed and maintained internal and external imaging campaigns for the company and its senior executives. She also worked extensively with Sony’s government relations staff and the Recording Industry Association of America on a wide range of music industry concerns, including intellectual copyright legislation and digital distribution issues.

Before joining Sony, Kiel was Senior Director of Communications for PolyGram from 1992 until 1995. Prior to that, she held a number of positions in the music and recording industry, including Publicity Director for Rolling Stone magazine (1990-92) and Publicist at PR firm Susan Blond (1989-90).
