CALL IT PTV: P. DIDDY AND MTV
READY TO ROLL

Hip-hop Impresario and Network Team Up
for Making the Band II
It’s time for P. Diddy TV.

MTV and hip-hop entrepreneur Sean Combs are hooking up for the second installment of the successful reality series Making the Band. The new installment will trace the formation of a hip-hop/R&B group from auditions to rehearsals to live performances to competing for a record deal—all under the guidance of music mogul P. Diddy or Puff Daddy, or whatever the heck he’s calling himself that week.

The 10 episodes of the 30-minute show will premiere this fall, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).

MTV Sr. VP Original Programming & Series Development John Miller says P. Diddy was the first person who came to mind after the channel committed to a new season of the series. "He’s a star maker who has created and produced numerous #1 musical acts. He is the perfect person to take Making the Band to the next level."

Added MTV/VH1 President of Entertainment Brian Graden: "P. Diddy is an extraordinary music executive with a history of molding raw talent into celebrated artists and some of our lucky viewers will have the opportunity to work under his guidance. And maybe even get J.Lo’s home phone number."

Said Diddy: "This show will be a wild ride, no tricks or gimmicks, just P. Diddy reality. I have been creating stars since I was 19, and this show will give insight into what it takes to be at the top. I’m excited to be working with MTV and doing what I love to do—create and nurture new talent."

The series will conduct nationwide auditions to find 20 lucky artists to travel to New York to be evaluated by P. Diddy, starting July 22 in Detroit. Finalists will be narrowed down to eight contestants, who will live together and be judged based on their writing, dancing and performance skills. Winners will have P. Diddy’s assistance in forming a band, pursuing a record deal, shooting a video, releasing a single and performing live.

The first Making the Band debuted on ABC in March 2000, then moved to MTV in January 2002. That show chronicled the formation of O-Town, which eventually signed with Clive DavisJ Records.

MTV will produce the show in conjunction with Bunim/Murray Productions.
