CENTERSPAN SECURES FINANCING, LAUNCHES NEW SCOUR BETA

Company Promises Not To Blow $5.4 Million
On Liquor And Whores

CenterSpan Communications today (6/18) announced equity commitments totaling approximately $5.4 million from new and existing institutional investors.

"This new equity commitment provides CenterSpan with additional financial resources to continue the roll-out of Scour, and to pursue strategic opportunities to leverage the capabilities of Scour and the C-star digital distribution channel," stated Frank G. Hausmann, chairman and CEO of CenterSpan. "Placed within the context of the current financial market environment, this financing is a testament to the Scour and C-star business model."

Over the weekend, the company announced the launch of the new Scour Exchange Beta, which the company, in its exciting email alert, described as "the legal source for great music and video."

Here’s more from CenterSpan about the new (and improved?) Scour: "Because we're in a Beta test, we're giving you the entertainment you want for free. For the Beta, we've compiled an exciting library of music and video, from contemporary artists like Green Day, Arrested Development, Primitive Radio Gods and Keoki [?] to classic artists like Creedence Clearwater Revisited [not Revival?], The Kinks and more. Thousands of songs. Tons of artists. You'll also find video clips, short films, movie trailers, and more."

Sounds great, doesn’t it? But wait, there’s more!

"During Beta," the release continues, "you may not find all of the songs and films like you did on the old Scour, but we'll be adding more as we go along. Look for additional exciting content soon. We're also limiting the number of songs you can download to 30 [hooray!] so that we can spread the selections evenly throughout the Beta. You'll be able to enjoy the content you download for as long as you like."

Why, if you squint your eyes real tight, you might almost think you were back in the heyday of Napster.
