As readers of our rumor mill are already aware, a month after his public statement declining participation in next month’s Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Celebration, The Solo Years concerts, brother Jermaine has changed his mind and will indeed be performing, along with previously confirmed Jackson members Jackie, Tito, Marlon, Randy and, of course, Michael. Some speculate that a Jackson tattler got word to father Joe, who only had to mention his belt once to change Jermaine's mind.
The concerts, to be held in Madison Square Garden Sept 7 and 10, will now not only mark the first time in 11 years that Michael has performed live Stateside, but the first time in 20 years that all six of the Jackson brothers have performed together--bringing together the Jackson 5, which included Jermaine, and the Jacksons, which included Randy, to the stage. That technically adds another group to the all-star lineup saluting Michael. Other performers include Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Quincy Jones, NSYNC, Shaggy, Britney Spears, Luther Vandross and others.
"I am delighted that [Jermaine] will be joining his brothers Michael, Jackie, Marlon, Tito and Randy for these very special evenings," said event producer David Gest, relieved of the new developments because he’d already printed up T-shirts and posters that included Jermaine.
Jermaine cited "exorbitant ticket prices" and an embarrassment that no charity had been named to benefit from the event, as reasons for his initial snub.
