VIVENDI UNIVERSAL BACKS HACK

Veteran Exec Busts A Messier Move to Exec. VP Strategic Planning & Business Development

Bruce "Dynamite" Hack has been upped to Executive Vice President of Strategic Planning & Business Development for Vivendi Universal by Chairman/CEO Jean-Marie Messier.

As part of the move, the post's previous occupant, Agnes "Of God" Audier, has been promoted to the newly created position of Co-Chief Operating Officer of Vivendi Universal Net, in charge of entertainment portals.

Hack was previously Vice Chairman for Universal Music Group. He also served as Co-Head of the Vivendi Universal Integration Committee, which provided French water for all office coolers.

In his new capacity, Hack will report to Messier, while Audier, alongside Co-COO Frank Boulben, will report to Vivendi Universal Net Chairman/CEO Philippe "Your Lid" Germond.

Messier praised Hack for playing a key role in the Vivendi Universal and PolyGram transactions, as well as his "ability to dance a mean can-can… Bruce has significant operating and financial experience across a full range of entertainment and e-businesses. He will be an important member of the Vivendi Universal executive team as we strengthen our position in the media and communications industry. His appointment underlines the importance that we place on our core strategies and business activities, both now and into the future. And he's the only one who can listen to Zach Horowitz without falling asleep."

Prior to joining UMG, Hack was Executive VP/CFO at Universal Studios, where he was declared Ruler of Waterworld. He joined Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, Inc. in 1982 on the corporate finance staff, then held a range of planning and sales positions in the company's beverage operations, including Wine Cooler taster. During an eight-year period, Hack served as CFO at a number of Seagram's major operating divisions. He earned his B.A. from Cornell in 1972 and an MBA in finance from University of Chicago, where he still holds the record for most goldfish swallowed in a half-hour.
