Ryders To Hit Big, Small Screen With "Real-Life Urban Experiences"

Ruff Ryders, home to such rap acts as DMX, Ruff Ryders and Eve, Wednesday (4/4) signed with Michael Ovitz's Artists Management Group for representation in ancillary media outlets.

As part of the deal, AMG will not represent Ruff Ryders' music division or its artist roster, but will handle the music company's planned moves into film and television.

Ruff Ryders plans to embark on film and TV efforts that focus on "depicting real-life urban experiences," a statement released by the company said. To that end, the company said it will fund its own low-budget documentaries and look to co-produce films in the low- to medium-budget range.

AMG's Kevin Gasser and Violator Music's Chris Lighty will spearhead the team that represents Ruff Ryders.

On the music front, Ruff Ryders, founded by brothers Joaquin, Darrin and Chivon Dean, has a joint-venture agreement with Interscope Records, while rapper DMX is signed to Island Def Jam.
