Gary Gets Upped to Senior VP of VP and TP

Gary "School of" Fisher has been promoted to Senior Vice President Video Promotion and Television Programming for Columbia Records Group by Executive VP Promotion Charlie Walk "On The Wild Side."

Fisher will oversee the implementation of all music video strategies for the label’s artists, promote the label’s music videos and original TV programming on cable stations across the U.S. and send a bouquet of gardenias every week to Van Toffler. He will work with producers at various cable networks and production companies to develop original programming, including live concerts and placing a hidden camera in Charlie Walk’s office. He has already played a key role in introducing "Street Team," which currently reaches 25 million households every time it airs and can be seen on 300 local cable systems nationally. Fisher was previously the label’s VP Video Promotion.

Commented Walk: "With the success of ‘Street Team,’ Gary is bringing the same level of quality, expertise and commitment to TV programming that he’s brought to video promotion. He truly understands the relationship between promotion and content programming and is ideally situated to bridge these worlds. And the black box he’s hooked up allows me to get the Playboy Channel for free."

Added Fisher: "It’s very gratifying to be able to work with the level of incredible talent and creativity present here. It sure beats walking along Madison Avenue wearing this ‘Street Team’ sandwich board."
