Actually, MTV and the USO are pairing up to boost troop morale by scheduling a concert overseas for the armed forces with Epic's Jennifer Lopez, Rock and Murder Inc./IDJ's Ja Rule. MTV will air the performances as part of "For the Troops: An MTV/USO Special" on Jan. 1, when there's nothing but bowl games on anyway. The show will also include J. Lo, Rock and Rule hanging out with the fine men and women of your armed forces, though they'll probably edit out Kid Rock challenging Marines to a drinking contest, who are probably only hoping Pam Anderson will show up.
"I've always considered myself to be a pretty patriotic guy, I don't know if you've been living in a cave or not," said Rock. "If they needed me to pick up a gun, I'm happy to do that, too, but I think this is my place. So right now, I'm ecstatic to go over and entertain the people who are fighting for my freedoms, because I do take advantage of my freedoms."
On Thanksgiving, Coolio gave a USO-sponsored concert for servicemen and women and Mariah Carey visited U.S. troops in Kosovo today. Glitter, of course, proved she's an expert in bombing.
