THIS CAN’T BE A MUSIC ROUNDUP!

Could Dr. Tim McGraw Be The Doctor That Jill Scott Is Seeing About Her Lungs?

WOULD THEY PUT HIM IN JUVY?
Juvenile has pleaded not guilty to aggravated battery with a bottle, battery on a police officer, two counts of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence, according to MTV.com. The 26-year-old rapper (born Terius Gray) filed a written plea in Dade County Court instead of appearing in person. The charges stem from a March 28 altercation at a Coconut Grove, FL, mall, during which Juvenile allegedly went all Puffy on 28-year-old Jackson Saint Ange, hitting him in the head with a bottle of Moet. The rapper then yelled at police insisting that they take his "motherfuckin’ ass to jail"—so they did. Said one Dade County cop, "First he wants his motherfucking ass in jail, now he doesn’t want his motherfucking ass in jail. I guess he just isn’t sure where his motherfucking ass oughta be."

ILLIN’ JILL
Nine long months of touring took their toll on Jill Scott. According to MTV.com, the singer was recently hospitalized after doctors discovered her bad cold had magically transformed into a lung infection. Scott was scheduled to begin a 13-city tour opening for Sting on May 5 in DC, but was too sick to perform. She also missed the May 6 stop in Roanoke, VA, and will likely miss tonight’s Greensboro, NC, show. Jazz musician Dominic Miller is subbing for Scott until she can return, which Scott is optimistic will be by the end of the week. "I know what she’s going through," Sting said in a statement. "But of course when I get sick, it goes on much longer than normal, because of my tantric training."

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH & MIGHTY
Gloom rocker Marilyn Manson has confirmed that the band that bears his name will appear with Ozzfest during that tour’s Denver stop on June 22, according to MTV.com. Ozzfest 2001 will also feature Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Papa Roach, Crazy Town and Mudvayne. In March, a spokesperson for Ozzfest had indicated that an "unspecified prior commitment" would keep Manson from playing the Denver date. The appearance will be Manson’s first in Denver since the 1999 Columbine High School shootings, for which his music was loosely (and somewhat ridiculously) blamed. A Denver-area youth pastor has appealed to the band to cancel its performance, on the grounds that Manson is "evil." "We have no problem with the other bands on the bill," the youth pastor said. "In fact, I find Mudvayne’s message to be quite uplifting."

HE’LL BE JOINING PROFESSOR RAY STEVENS AND ADMIRAL LESTER SCRUGGS
Country music star Tim McGraw will receive an honorary doctorate on May 12 from the prestigious University of Louisiana-Monroe, where he was once a student. "I feel humbled to be receiving this honorary degree," McGraw said. The honorary degree entitles McGraw to practice as an "honorary doctor" anywhere in Louisiana.
