The company has announced download deals with Warner Music Group (WMG) and Artemis Records. In the WMG agreement, the music group will provide secure commercial downloads from its labels' rosters to e-tailers in the RioPort network, which includes MTV.com, VH1.com, SonicNet.com, and House Of Blues site HOB.com. RioPort will provide to WMG digital distribution services, content prep and hosting and delivery support.
Artemis has authorized RioPort to digitally distribute and sell its entire catalog through the company's online music network, which means you can expect 1,987,065 downloads of "Who Let The Dogs Out?" RioPort, through its PulseOne Media Service, will handle music encoding, packaging, rights management and e-commerce facilitation for the label.
WMG EVP of Strategic Planning and Business Development Paul Vidich said, "Through this agreement with RioPort, we can supplement the network of online retailers that currently offer our downloads. And we have yet another outlet in which to push London-Sire/143 act Eden's Crush. By the way, anybody seen my Victrola?"
In related news, RioPort President/CEO Jim Long and MTVi Group President/CEO Nicholas Butterworth will hold a press conference tomorrow (Wednesday, 4/4) regarding a major online music announcement connected to today's agreements.
