SANDERS COOKING AT RCA

Industry Vet Goes From Ballooning With Branson To Fetching Lattes For Jack
As we first reported over three months ago, Richard "Colonel" Sanders has been named Executive VP and General Manager, RCA Records, effective immediately (hitsdailydouble.com, 4/2). Sanders will report directly to RCA Records President Jack Rovner, who officially announced the move on Wednesday (7/11).

In addition to his role of supervising the day-to-day operations at the label, Sanders will oversee the creative, marketing and sales of all domestic and international releases on RCA.

Sanders joins RCA after a five-year stint at V2 Records, where he last served as President of North America. Sanders joined the Richard Branson-founded label in 1996 as General Manager.

At V2, Sanders was widely credited with building the label into a viable unit, developing such artists as Moby, and signing the Black Crowes, among others. His departure from V2 in March was unexpected, sparking a search for his successor that resulted in the naming of Andy Gershon as the company’s N.A. President.

"I am thrilled that Richard is joining the RCA team and I look forward to working closely with him," said Rovner. "Richard is a music man in the truest sense, and I know firsthand the incredible passion, creativity and vision that he brings to a music label. Not to mention he has the uncanny ability of getting my daily coffee order right."

Prior to V2, Sanders was VP, Artist Development at Arista Records, and before that, he was Founder and President of Loud and Proud, an artist management company. In a previous life, Sanders was an independent tour manager for acts that included Ted Nugent and Beatlemania.
