GOODBYE YELLOW BRICK ROAD?

Elton John Tells New Hampshire Audience Latest Album is His Last
On Friday night (11/30), Elton John stunned the audience by announcing that his latest album, Songs From the West Coast, would be his last.

"I'm fed up with it," the venerable British pop star told the sold-out crowd at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH. "I like playing to you guys but I hate the record industry. I've made 40 albums and it is about time for me to get out."

John's spokesman told Reuters he was unsure whether John was really letting the sun go down on his record career. "He certainly said he would never make another record but whether it was just something he said on the spur of the moment, or whether he meant it, we don't know yet," he said.

Songs From the West Coast is John's first album of new material for four years.

John’s 30-year-plus career has certainly made one of the richest stars in the music business, pushing his personal fortune past an estimated $210 million.

John ended the concert in New Hampshire by dedicating his ballad "Your Song" to George Harrison, who died earlier that day in Los Angeles. He said Harrison had taken the time to send him a congratulatory note when he was just starting to make a name for himself.

"I've never forgotten that gesture," John told the crowd. "It was such a mind-blowing event."
