Prinz ankled Creative Artists Agency in 1999 after 11 years as an agent to form his own Principal Artists Group. He worked with clients including Van Halen, Barbra Streisand, Bon Jovi, Jerry Seinfeld, Stevie Wonder, the Black Crowes, John Hiatt, Placebo, Blur and Elastica. Before joining CAA, Prinz spent eight years at the William Morris Agency, where he headed the East Coast Contemporary Music Division, where his early clients included Madonna.
Said UTA head/board member Jeremy Zimmer: "Rob has an unparalleled reputation and presence in the music industry. He is a leader not only in identifying and cultivating new talent, but also moving existing stars to their next levels. At least that's what my headhunter tells me."
Added Prinz: "This is a fantastic opportunity to do what I love, which is represent music artists at one of the best agencies in the industry. UTA has a deep commitment to its clients and I feel this is a great environment in which to establish a serious and competitive music business. And they've even promised me my own parking spot."
Longtime Prinze associate Nikki Wheeler will join Prinz At UTA. The company represents such clients as Madonna, Eminem and Janet Jackson for their extra-musical projects. The music division recently announced an upcoming 20-city concert tour using artists from the soundtrack of O Brother Where Art Thou?, directed by agency clients Ethan and Joel Coen, with Immortal Entertainment, Metropolitan Entertainment and the House of Blues.
