AOL TIME WARNER, PHILIPS GET BETTER ALL THE TIME

Consumers Stunned By Dramatic Combination Of E-Commerce, AOL Content And Services
AOL Time Warner and Royal Philips Electronics today announced a strategic alliance combining AOL Time Warner's interactive marketing and media savvy with Philips' consumer electronics and technology know-how.

Under the multi-year agreement, the two companies will focus on a series of online, on-air and print marketing initiatives, which will help increase the reach and scope of their brands worldwide.
The two companies will co-develop new online marketing destinations which will showcase Philips products and services, as well as related content from AOL Time Warner’s online properties. These platforms will highlight both companies' retail partners and the ability to purchase Philips products easily, so anyone can watch a drive-in movie in the comforts of his or her own garage.

Philips also will be promoted across several of AOL Time Warner's print and broadcast properties, including Time magazine and Turner Broadcast networks such as CNN. Meanwhile, Philips will make its distribution strength and global reach available to help AOL acquire new members. And with such a specific strategy on Philips’ part, how can we doubt its effectiveness?

"This relationship truly highlights the value that only AOL Time Warner can deliver to its strategic partners," said AOL Time Warner Co-COO Bob Pittman. "By expanding our relationship with Philips to include a number of the marketing and commerce assets that we now have in our portfolio, we're able to accomplish a number of important goals. First, we will offer consumers more innovative products from Philips to choose from to help make their lives easier and more convenient. Second, we will help Philips drive growth of its business through increased brand awareness. And finally, all the executives will get those cool flat-screen TVs. You know, the kind you can mount on the ceiling above your bed? This may not be a big thing to consumers, but we’re all pretty excited about it."
