"I respect Andy's artist-oriented approach and his creative vision for the future of this label. Now when do I get to meet Randy Michaels?"
——Dan Hubbert, Capitol Records Sr. VP Promotion

DAN’S THE MAN AT CAPITOL

Promo Vet Hubbert Lands At Capitol After Nixing Clear Channel
To be or not to be.

That was the question Dan Hubbert asked himself, torn between lucrative job offers from both Clear Channel and Capitol Records.

Unlike Hamlet, he didn't decide to kill his mother's lover, but instead heads for the famed Tower, joining President/CEO Andy Slater's team as Capitol's Senior Vice President of Promotion, replacing veteran Burt Baumgartner, who resigned a week ago Friday.

Hubbert is still looking for his corner office at the label's landmark Hollywood headquarters, and as soon as he finds it, he'll let Slater know where it is.

In his new post, Hubbert will oversee the label's radio promotion efforts, develop promotion strategies, lead the national promotion staff, maximize airplay and fill in his Beatles collection.

Hubbert is a 13-year music industry veteran who was most recently Sr. Vice President Promotion for Epic Records, where his successes included Macy Gray, Incubus and getting people to stop calling him "Mother Hubbert" or "Humbert Hubbert." Prior to that, he was Sr. Vice President of Hollywood Records, where he helped break Fastball and insisted his ears were better than Mickey Mouse's.

Commenting on the appointment, Slater said: "Dan has an extraordinary track record as a promotion executive and an even better one for picking up the check at lunch. Having worked closely with him at Epic on Macy Gray's debut, I know he is every bit as committed as I am to breaking new artists at a variety of formats, as well as stocking the office water coolers with Red Bull."

Added Hubbert. "I am very excited about being a part of this historic company. I respect Andy's artist-oriented approach and his creative vision for the future of this label. Now when do I get to meet Randy Michaels? Or Nat King Cole, for that matter?"
