Its strength is largely coming from the racks, where the album is selling more than three times as well as Janet Jackson's Virgin record "All For You."

IT'S THEIR DESTINY TO GO #1

One-Day Sales Have It Beating Janet With First-Week Sales Soaring Over 600k
Don Ienner's Columbia Records Group machine rolls yet another number one. Spearheaded by a massive multi-media marketing/promotion set-up and fueled by two hit singles in "Independent Women Part I" and the title track, soul trio of the moment Destiny's Child's new album, "Survivor," will bow at the top of next week's charts. Its sales total should easily soar over 600k, based on first-day estimates from retailers around the country, topping the total of Janet Jackson's "All For You," which debuted at #1 this week with 565,400.

Its strength is largely coming from the racks, where the album is selling more than three times as well as Jackson's album. Given a dropoff of between 40-50%, "All For You" will be #2 to "Survivor" with anywhere from 300-350k in second-week units. But don’t take our word for it. Wait until the Billboard Bulletin reports it a week from today.

Also making what should be a Top 10 chart debut will be 143/London-Sire prefab femme fivesome Eden's Crush bow, which is on track to score 125k-ish.

Meanwhile, Stevie Nicks' APM winner, "Trouble In Shangri-La" (Reprise), appears headed for a very surprising "between 80k and the better part of 100k," according to our in-house retail expert, Bubbles the Chimp, who predicts that would also be enough for a Top 10 debut.
