Island's Rock Redux
IDJ Chairman Jim Caparro credits the new A&R team that was brought in more than a year ago: "We purposely flew below the radar, but these are quality bands with huge careers. We didn't go to radio until we had the right record and the right set-up. But we haven't hit a home run just yet."
The three bands team up on this summer's "MTV Campus Invasion Tour 2001," which got underway last Friday night (3/30) at Adelphi University in Garden City, Long Island, and runs through April 19 at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. All will be featured this weekend on MTV's "MTV2 Artists To Watch."
"We took advantage of the individual band's strengths," said IDJ VP Promotion Stu Bergen. "Each one had a real reason to go on the radio... Namely me begging on my hands and knees."
