Gorillaz/D12 Hook Up, Jay-Z Unplugged, Boyz II Men Love A Parade, Weiland Charged
CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME
The Gorillaz and D12 are joining forces to record a track in reaction to the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center. Featuring the Specials' Terry Hall on vocals, "911" was recorded in London after the Detroit rappers were stranded in London. The track will be available as a free download on www.gorillaz.com from Dec. 7, with an exclusive new video and single artwork also on the site. Said D12's Swifty: "It was cool. They showed much love. We chose some beats; we went on a vibe. We enjoyed working with them. They have a nice flavafor cartoon characters. Next up, we'd like to do a remix with Heckyl and Jeckyl."

JAY-Z PLUG FOR UNPLUGGED
Rapper Jay-Z taped an episode of MTV2's Unplugged series last weekend backed by an acoustic band and a string quartet. The hip-hop star opened up the evening by welcoming the 150 in-studio guests to his "poetry hour Hark who goes there?" Mary J. Blige joined Jay-Z as a surprise guest for a song. The rap icon edited himself during the performance, trying not to curse, until a raw encore, when he led the crowd in a stirring a cappella singalong of "H to the Izz-ay, V to the Izz-o" around an impromptu campfire started with some rags soaked in gasoline. The show is scheduled to air on MTV 2 Dec. 15, with a later broadcast on MTV.

BOYZ II MARCH FOR MACYS
Newly inked by Antonio "L.A." Reid to Arista, Boyz II Men will perform "Thank You" at this year's annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York. It will mark ten years since the band released their debut album and first performed at the parade. After being cut down and deflated, the foursome—Nathan Morris, Michael McCary, Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris—will enter a recording studio to begin work on their sixth studio album, slated for release next Spring.

PILOT GROUNDED
Stone Temple Pilot
lead singer Scott Weiland, no stranger to trouble with the law, was arrested at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas on charges related to domestic violence. Weiland and his wife Marry had an argument in their hotel room, and he was arrested 2 a.m. Monday morning. The law required he be held in custody for 12 hours, though he was released in time for his show at the Hard Rock last night. Weiland took the stage in a cowboy hat and priest outfit, sporting a brand-new Mohawk hairdo, with what appeared to be fresh cuts and bruises on each side. "I might be a failure at love, but I've written a few good songs in my time," he told the crowd, before asking, "Anyone know the name of a good lawyer?" This marked the second time the singer had been arrested at the Hard Rock. A few years ago, he was taken into custody for violating his probation on drug charges by flying to Vegas for a gig. Weiland is expected to take some time off for knee surgery before the band plays a New Year's Eve gig at Disney World.
