THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER

Oh Yes It Is! Especially When It Comes To Writing Up Another Music Roundup

AND SOME THINGS YOU CAN LEAVE BEHIND
The North American leg of U2's anticipated world tour in support of "All That You Can't Leave Behind" has been solidified and will begin March 24 in Miami. The SFX-produced U2 Elevation Tour 2001 is scheduled to stop in 33 arenas in the United States and Canada. The Elevation tour is a bit of a departure for the group, which predominantly played during the 1980s and ‘90s. U2 is expected to add approximately 30 European dates in coming months, including visits to the Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, France, Denmark, Ireland and England. The band's last tour was 1997's Pop Mart, a worldwide stadium caravan. "This tour will be a bit of a departure in that Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton will simply stay at home," said a spokesman for the band. "We discovered that most fans hardly noticed them anyway."

OOPS! INDEED
Pop princess Britney Spears led the infamous worst dressed list compiled by self-appointed fashion guru Mr. Blackwell. Spears on Tuesday (1/9) soared to first place on the Worst Dressed Women of 2000 list, up five slots from a year ago. "Oops, she did it again," voiced Blackwell. "Her bra-topped collection of Madonna rejects are pure fashion overkill. Relax. Help is on the way." Teen sensation Christina Aguilera (#6) could use some fashion help while Iceland's singer-actress Bjork (#3) ought to be dubbed "Alice in Blunderland," purred Blackwell. Madonna, the cowgirl, came in fourth place as Blackwell deemed the Material Girl "still just kitschy, kitschy, kitschy." Other musicians on Blackwell's list include Courtney Love (#8) and Mariah Carey (#9). "It hasn't been this easy to put together the list," Blackwell said, "since David Lee Roth and David Coverdale were popular."

LOOK FOR THE EDMONDS LABEL
Tracey Edmonds, through her Edmonds Entertainment Group, has formed a new music label, Edmonds Record Group. Michael McQuarn has been named Co-President of the group with Edmonds, wife of Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds. Bad Boy Entertainment's Jeff Burroughs has been named Exec VP and Bernard Jacobs will serve as Senior VP of Artist Development. McQuarn will be charged with directing the label, overseeing relationships with distribution companies and bringing in new talent, while Burroughs will run the day-to-day label operations. Tonya Salvant, a former Bad Boy employee, has been named VP of Marketing and Artist Development, and Mike Avery will be as VP of Promotion. Johnny Damon, recently acquired in a nine-player deal, will play center and bat leadoff. Tracey Edmonds had headed the Elektra-distributed Yab Yum Records, which has closed. ERG has distribution deals for various artists with Sony, Def Jam and Priority Records.
