"Jack is a first-class music executive. His unique understanding of artist development and his passion for music have been instrumental to RCA’s great success."

NIPPER ROLLS OVER FOR ROVNER

RCA Records Executive VP/GM Upped
To President, Weyner On Tap?
No, he didn't have to sit up and beg, but Jack Rovner "Under Sideways Down" now has Nipper on a leash.

The label veteran has been named President of RCA Records by BMG Entertainment N.A. President/CEO Robert Jamieson, to whom he'll report. This news was first reported back on Jan. 16 by, you guessed it, hitsdailydouble.com.

Additionally, sources indicate that David Weyner is expected to be named the new Executive VP/GM, overseeing Windham Hill, Private Music and BMG Classics & Jazz. Weyner last worked at Sanctuary.

Rovner's career spans two decades and includes working with some of the biggest acts in pop music. As Executive VP/GM of RCA Records, he has played a key role in transforming the label into one of the industry's most successful labels, developing such hit acts as Dave Matthews Band, Christina Aguilera, David Gray, Tyrese and Vertical Horizon (now known as Verizon "to serve you better"—thanks to Laura Sinagra for that one). During his tenure, the label has experienced dramatic growth with record-breaking sales results and increased market share, or at least that's what Rovner told the contract arbitration committee.

Before joining RCA, Rovner was Sr. VP at Arista Records, where he was responsible for marketing, artist development, publicity, video and keeping Clive's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame polished. He worked with such acts there as Sarah McLachlan, TLC and Annie Lennox. From 1981-'91, he worked in Columbia Records' marketing department, where he rose to VP and developed campaigns for Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Wynton Marsalis and Don Ienner's hair, among others.

Said Jamieson: "Jack is a first-class music executive. His unique understanding of artist development and his passion for music have been instrumental to RCA's great success. RCA Records could not be in better hands to continue building on our artists' and label's tremendous accomplishment. And he's the only one here I still let call me Bob."
