MR. NAPSTER GOES
TO WASHINGTON

Embattled Netco Looks To Add Former Aide To Sen. Orrin Hatch To Its Team
Napster appears to be raising its Washington profile.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the netco is hiring the Senate Judiciary Committee's top staffer to lobby for the company. Manus Cooney, the committee's Republican staff director, would head Napster's Washington office.

As an aide to Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Orrin Hatch, Cooney has been a key player in the battles over copyright law for years. If he joins the Napster team, he would bring one of the strongest voices on the issue to the company at an opportune time. Congress is expected to consider changes to the law next year.

Neither Cooney nor a spokesman for Napster could be reached for comment.
