Courtney Love needs a date for the "Charlie's Angels" premiere in Los Angeles. The Hole official Web site is hosting a contest to accompany the flamboyant frontwoman to the Oct. 22 event. The lucky winner and a guest will be flown to L.A. to walk Love down the red carpet. Said Love, "I hope the winner's a good songwriter. After all, I have a new album to put out. Did I mention I'll put out?"
WHAT'S WRONG WITH "SERPICO" DIALOGUE?
Smash mouth is also holding a contest of its own. The alt-rockers want their fans to name their upcoming third album, which is due out in 2001 on Interscope. A posting on Smashmouth.com states: "The details are being ironed out right now and will be posted soon. So start thinking!" The band is offering "cool stuff" for suggestions, which means they'll also "put out."

Former Kids In The Hall comic Scott Thompson is fighting for the honor of teen divas everywhere. The comedian recorded a scathing parody of Eminem's hit "Stan." "Dear Marshall" comes from the perspective of a gay Slim Shady fan and includes such profound lyrics as "My mother thinks we'd look good together/I think you'd look good in leather…" Thompson will perform the song tonight on NBC's "Late Night With Conan O'Brien." The tune is also available for free download on Soundbreak.

Life is not a game for Sporty Spice. Melanie Chisolm has revealed she is suffering from depression. According to the British paper The Mirror, the Spice Girl's mental health was affected by media criticism of her figure, rumors of a lesbian relationship with her personal assistant and a public breakup with 5ive singer Jay Brown. Said Mel C: "It's an illness and nothing to be ashamed of. I hope that I can dispel the stigma attached to the condition." The singer has been prescribed anti-depressants and is reportedly aiding her recovery by hitting the Sizzler salad bar with her good friend Ellen DeGeneres.

Columbia Records has dropped basketball player Kobe Bryant from its roster. The athlete's hip-hop debut, "K.O.B.E." was released in June and received negative reviews and worse sales. Said the L.A. Lakers superstar: "I wanted to put out a record like ‘Basketball' by Kurtis Blow. Instead, my record just blows."
